SLIP RESISTANT COATINGS AND TREATMENTS

Any of our poured systems can be finished smooth, or with any degree of slip resistant texture.   The finish texture is achieved by using graded aggregates to create more surface area to the floor.  The amount of slip resistance is controlled by the size, shape, and spacing of these aggregates.

A slip resistant epoxy coating is installed with either a full broadcast or an encapsulated finish.  A full broadcast is a flood coat of the epoxy, with clean, dried, graded sand sprinkled onto the wet epoxy until no wet spots are visible.   After the epoxy is cured, the surface is swept and vacuumed.  A top coat of the same epoxy is installed over the previous coat to seal and lock in the sand.  This method produces a uniform, dense texture.  If the top coat is installed heavy, more of the sand is covered, and the amount of texture is reduced.  If more texture is desired, a tighter top coat is installed.    Please see Rockote.

Mineral surfaces such as concrete, stone, tile, granite, etc. can be treated to become slip resistant, without changing the appearance of the floor.  An invisible, reverse tread is etched into the surface.  The surface becomes more slip resistant when it is wet than when the surface is dry.  Please see Safety Grip.
